  1. What is an Independent Critic?

An independent critic is a film reviewer who works freelance, or for an independent media publication. This can include writing, podcasting, or creating videos on YouTube!

2. What makes the IFCA different from other critic groups?

While most critic groups focus on one aspect of critics (Online, location-based etc) the IFCA is a national organization that seeks to amplify the voice of independent critics no matter where they may be located.

3. Do you only review independent films?

No, our critics are encouraged to support indie films, but our members review everything from short films to the biggest blockbusters!

4. Do you give out awards?

Yes we do, each year we hold the IFCA awards where we recognize the very best in filmmaking.

5. How do you choose who will be in the IFCA?

Some critics are invited to join, and others apply to be members, however we are not snooty, if you are a critic and are interested in joining us click here

6. Does the IFCA support diversity in its membership?

Absolutely, the IFCA was founded by Byron Lafayette with the idea to bring voices from the background to the foreground. We are proud to have a very diverse membership of critics from all walks of life.
