ABOUT JESSIE HOBSON
My name is Jessie Hobson, and I hold a degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Production from Sam Houston State University. I currently serve as the Creative Services Coordinator at SHSU, where I have worked for nearly a decade. In this role, I manage meetings with course creators, collaborate with professors and staff to organize course content, and coordinate a variety of events across campus. Additionally, I have been involved with Virtual Pitch Fest for the past two years, where I review submitted pitches, work with writers to develop film production ideas, and oversee projects from concept to completion.
In 2015, I co-founded CineDump, a platform that has been nominated for numerous Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards. Through CineDump, I have dedicated countless hours to networking, creating content, and managing the platform. I am responsible for publishing reviews, articles, and interviews, as well as building the website, social media presence, and contributor guidelines. I am also proud to now be a YouTube Partner, further expanding the reach and impact of my creative efforts.
Beyond my work with CineDump and SHSU, I have produced numerous podcasts, worked as a production assistant on various projects, and contributed to platforms like do713 and 1NFLUX Magazine. My passion for film and storytelling extends to my involvement with events such as the Houston Horror Film Festival, Cult Classic Convention, and Texas Frightmare, where I assist in film selection and host panels. Additionally, I have served as a judge for the UIL Young Filmmakers Festival for multiple years, supporting emerging talent in the industry. These experiences have allowed me to combine my skills in production, event coordination, and storytelling to make meaningful contributions to the creative and academic communities.
I’ve included five of my recent movie reviews, which primarily focus on independent films that have recently come to my attention. These films represent a mix of unique perspectives and storytelling approaches that often define the indie film scene. While these particular reviews highlight independent projects, both CineDump and I are always open to exploring and reviewing a wide variety of films, from indie gems to mainstream releases. Our mission is to provide thoughtful, engaging coverage that celebrates the creativity and diversity of cinema in all its forms. Whether it’s an under-the-radar passion project or a blockbuster hit, we’re committed to giving each film the attention it deserves.
